NoPassport and Nuyorican Poets Cafe present a two-day conference with the support of Cynthia Cohen, The Armenian Dramatic Arts Alliance, Fulana, Paul Nagle and ICSCS, Idiom, The Internationalists, INTAR, HotInk @ the Lark, Fulana, Rock Wilk, The Secret City, Pasos: The Museum and Center for Peacebuilding, and the Sundance Institute Theatre Program, and in solidarity with Reclaim and Meeting Point Productions.. NoPassport is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas.

Cohen, Stephen Duncombe, Erik Ehn, Teresa Eyring, Randy Gener, David Greenspan, David Herskovits, Philip Himberg, Chiori Miyagawa, Saviana Stanescu, Mac Wellman, Chris Wells of the 2010 Obie Award winning The Secret City and a distinguished roster of artists & scholars for the 5th annual NoPassport “Dreaming the Americas” Conference at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. This year the two-day conference will focus on a wide range of contemporary works for theatre and performance, viewing arts and activism from a variety of perspectives. Keynote Speaker is Oscar-nominated screenwriter and playwright Jose Rivera. Performances from Rock Wilk and Fulana. Film There will also be a pre-book launches for the release of new volumes from NoPassport Press from Linda Faigao-Hall, Catherine Filloux, Carson Kreitzer, Ruth Margraff, Lisa Ramirez & more, and special documentary film screening of “Acting Together.”

She is currently developing a performance piece that will be presented in April at the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao part of the group exhibition “The Luminous Interval “. Fulana is a media collective that emerged as the vision-fusion of four New York-based Latina artists joined by a love of video and satire, a critical gaze, a bilingual sense of humor and—most of all—a shared desire to create art within a collaborative onda. The Nuyorican Poets Café was founded circa 1973 as a living room salon in the East Village apartment of writer and poet, Miguel Algarin. Rock Wilk is an actor, a playwright and a poet, New York City’s own Rock WILK is also a socially and politically charged vocalist and an accomplished multi-instrumentalist. Along with being a Nuyorican Poet’s semifinalist and 2010 runoffs qualifier for The Nuyorican’s national team, Rock also was recently a featured performer for Amnesty International at an event for human rights. Rock is currently developing his play, BROKE WIDE OPEN, which was recently presented at undergroundzero, which is part of the Playgroundzero Festival at the acclaimed theater, Performance Space 122 in Manhattan.
